Tofino: "Very nice apartment outside Ucluelet"

We spent three nights in mid-August at "A Balsam House," a duplex (top & bottom apartments) house about two miles outside Ucluelet towards Tofino. Very reasonably priced ($150CDN for a 3-night, high-season stay), the smaller downstairs apartment was perfect for our family of four. Simple furnishings were comfortable and spotless. Nice deck. Pleasant view through bushes of a nice slice of the harbor. Our teen-age children at first bemoaned the absence of a television. However, that turned evenings into family games around the table and encouraged us to get out into the spectacular nearby wilderness more quickly each day. Everything about this place, including the next-door-neighbor owner, was a pleasant surprise. If you do come, be aware ahead of time that there are no bureaus for your clothes. There was room in the hall to hang clothes.

Ucluelet and Tofino – beautiful places to visit – great scenery! A balsam House was a wonderful place to stay – a home away from home.

We enjoyed our stay at the comfortable & spacious Balsam House. I like the paintings, beautiful photographs, lamps and quilts & flower garden! – nice touches. This was a beautiful ending to a great vacation in B.C. Peaceful, beautiful, & very comfortable accommodations. A great place to relax, see the spectacular scenery & have quality family time. Hope we come again.

Secret UN summit meeting (England, France, Mexico, Iran, Germany) We had a quality time here.

3 days! This means a lot of sun, fun great nature, big salmon, 2 sea lions, 1 black bear, excellent food, friendly people and a cozy accommodation. Summary: It was just great !!!

We had great time. The view was great too and the house was wonderful. We found plenty of souvenirs and have no complaints. Because there was no TV we had fun playing family games instead. We really enjoyed our stay and I hope we come back soon.
